FHI Bringing the Diesel Boxer to the 2008 Paris Motor Show
Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles announced (Sept. 5, 2008) it will be exhibiting the new Forester 2.0D and Impreza 2.0D at this years Paris Motor Show.
Adding to it’s diesel lineup of Legacy and Outback models in Europe (introduced this past summer), Subaru is hoping this will help meet the needs of a wider array of customers. The new models are introduced with Subaru’s improved Boxer Diesel and adopted closed-type particulate filter, as well as it’s improved 6-speed manual transmission improving both the vehicle’s fuel economy and emissions–the 144hp Forester 2.0D has the lowest CO2 emission levels in the compact SUV category.
The 147 hp/ 258 ft-lb Impreza 2.0D will only be offered in the 5-door hatchback model.
Unfortunately there is still no official word on whether or not the boxer diesel will make its way state side any time soon.
